Best Tobacco Perfumes in the UAE
Article Summary: Tobacco is the warm note the UAE searches for more than any other without a guide to send it to, about 720 searches a month; almost everything it is searching for descends from one 2007 bottle, Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille. The eight below are the tobacco fragrances MOJ interprets: that one, Guerlain's Tobacco Honey, Armani's Stronger With You Tobacco, Amouage's Royal Tobacco, Xerjoff's Naxos, Mancera's Red Tobacco, Houbigant's Tabac Nomade and Ibraheem Al Qurashi's Brazilian Tobacco. Most of them are vanilla with tobacco on top rather than the other way round, which is why they sell here. MOJ versions from AED 32.
- Tobacco in a bottle is usually an accord built from coumarin, vanilla, tonka and spice rather than leaf extract; where real tobacco absolute is used, it is solvent-extracted from cured leaves and sold with the nicotine stripped out.
- Tobacco Vanille (2007) is by Olivier Gillotin; Tobacco Honey (2023) by Delphine Jelk; Stronger With You Tobacco (2024) by Cecile Matton; Royal Tobacco (2022) by Cecile Zarokian; Tabac Nomade (2023) by Antoine Lie and Luca Maffei; Red Tobacco (2017) is credited to Pierre Montale.
- UAE prices from approved sources run from AED 420 for 200 ml of Brazilian Tobacco to AED 1,550 for 100 ml of Royal Tobacco; Tabac Nomade has no approved UAE listing.
- Seven of the eight MOJ readings are unisex or men's; Nexos is the one with a honey and lavender heart that reads as the most shared.
- MOJ's eight run from AED 32 to 138 across 30, 50 and 100 ml; the 100 ml of Tobacco Vanilla, Nexos and Red Tobacco is not available at the moment.

What tobacco in a perfume actually is
Mostly not tobacco. There is a real material, tobacco absolute, made by solvent-extracting cured Nicotiana tabacum leaves into a concrete and washing it with alcohol, and it is sold to perfumers with the nicotine stripped below trace levels. It smells of hay, honey, dried fruit and a little smoke. But it is expensive, dark and hard to dose, so most of what reads as tobacco on a blotter is an accord built around it or without it: coumarin for the hay sweetness, vanilla and tonka for the honey, a spice or two and modern molecules that carry the cured-leaf facet. One of the oldest perfumery bases named for tobacco contains no tobacco at all. That is not a scandal, it is the craft, and it is why the note sits so close to vanilla in every bottle below.
Two facets decide which tobacco you will like. The dried-fruit, rose-tinged side comes from damascenone, a molecule found in both tobacco and rose, and it is what makes Tobacco Vanille smell of figs and dates. The hay-honey side comes from coumarin and the leaf's own honey molecules, and it is what makes Naxos smell of a sunny field. If you want tobacco that smells of a cigar box rather than a dessert, you want the ones with leather, birch tar and frankincense underneath, which here means Royal Tobacco and Tabac Nomade.
Why the UAE wears tobacco at all
Because it behaves like oud without being oud. Tobacco is warm, resinous, sweet and long, which is the Gulf profile, and it reads as serious on a man without the smoke that oud carries into an office. It also layers over the ouds and ambers people already own. Searches for tobacco perfume in the UAE run at about 720 a month, more than sandalwood or fresh, and until this page the store had readings of eight tobacco fragrances and no guide pointing at them. Nearly all of the eight descend from one bottle, which is where the list starts.
The eight, with the MOJ versions
1. Tobacco Vanilla
The one everything else answers to. Tobacco Vanille launched in 2007 as part of Tom Ford's Private Blend line, an eau de parfum composed by Olivier Gillotin, and it is the reason tobacco is a mainstream note at all. Tom Ford lists tobacco leaf, ginger, spice, tonka, cocoa and a fruit accord; the usual pyramid reads tobacco leaf and spice up top, vanilla, cacao, tonka and tobacco blossom in the heart, dried fruit and woods underneath. It is a dessert with a cigar smoked over it, dense enough that two sprays do an evening, and the brand says nothing about gender while every retailer calls it unisex. Ounass lists the 50 ml at AED 1,120. Our Tobacco Vanilla follows that pyramid line for line and is the cheapest card on the page; the 30 ml and 50 ml are available, the 100 ml is not at the moment. For the house, our guide to the best Tom Ford perfumes covers it beside its siblings.
- Top: Tobacco Leaf, Spicy Notes
- Heart: Vanilla, Cacao, Tonka Bean, Tobacco Blossom
- Base: Dried Fruits, Woody Notes
2. Honey Tobacco
The honeyed one. Tobacco Honey arrived in September 2023 in Guerlain's L'Art et la Matiere line, an eau de parfum by Delphine Jelk, built on a tobacco accord over honey, aniseed and clove with vanilla, tonka, sesame, sandalwood and oud wood underneath; the house line is that touched by honey, tobacco turns to gold. The sesame is the detail, a toasted nuttiness that keeps the honey from going syrupy. Ounass lists the 100 ml at AED 1,490. Our Honey Tobacco keeps the house order, honey, clove and anise, then tobacco, vanilla, tonka and sesame, then oud and sandalwood, and all three sizes are available. The best Guerlain perfumes guide has the long version.
- Top: Honey, Cloves, Anise
- Heart: Tobacco, Vanilla, Tonka, Sesame
- Base: Agarwood (Oud), Sandalwood
3. You Tobacco
The designer one. Stronger With You Tobacco launched in 2024 as a limited edition sold in Europe and the Middle East only, an eau de parfum by Cecile Matton of Mane, and it takes the chestnut and vanilla of the original Stronger With You and puts tobacco absolute and cinnamon leaf over it. Armani files it under men; Faces and Ounass label it unisex, and it wears both ways. The retail pyramid is pink pepper, pepper, cardamom, elemi and sage up top, tobacco, chestnut and cinnamon leaf in the heart, vanilla, amber, guaiac and benzoin underneath. Ounass lists the 100 ml at AED 550 and had none to sell when we checked. Our You Tobacco follows the retail pyramid with chili added to the heart, and all three sizes are available. The best Armani perfumes guide covers the rest of the line.
- Top: Pink Pepper, Black Pepper, Cardamom, Elemi, Sage
- Heart: Tobacco, Chestnut, Cinnamon Leaf, Chili Pepper
- Base: Bourbon Vanilla, Amber, Guaiac Wood, Benzoin
4. Tobacco Royal X
The serious one. Royal Tobacco is Opus XIV in Amouage's Library Collection, launched in September 2022, an eau de parfum by Cecile Zarokian that the house says carries 25 percent oil. Amouage's own list is long: frankincense, elemi, cardamom, anise, basil and bergamot up top, tobacco absolute with liquorice, lavender, prunol, fenugreek, orange blossom, osmanthus and rose in the heart, then a base of frankincense resinoid, Peru balsam, benzoin, labdanum, myrrh, birch tar, tonka, vanilla, vetiver, guaiac, Assam oud and musks. It is the cigar box on this page, smoky, resinous and bitter at the edges, and it is unisex by the house's own word. Faces and Bloomingdale's list the 100 ml at AED 1,550 and both had none when we checked. Our Tobacco Royal X prints the house pyramid almost in full, which is why its list below is the longest, and all three sizes are available. The best Amouage perfumes guide covers the house.
- Top: Olibanum, Anise, Elemi Resin, Cardamom, Basil, Bergamot
- Heart: Tobacco, Licorice, Fenugreek, Lavender, Prunol, Osmanthus, Orange Blossom, Rose
- Base: Olibanum, Myrrh, Bourbon Vanilla, Birch Tar, Benzoin, Agarwood (Oud), Peru Balsam, Labdanum
5. Nexos
The sunny one. Naxos launched in 2015 in Xerjoff's 1861 collection, an eau de parfum named for the Sicilian town, and the house lists lemon, bergamot, lavender and Omani incense up top, jasmine sambac, honey, cinnamon and cashmere in the heart, vanilla, tobacco leaf and tonka underneath. It is tobacco as a honeyed hayfield rather than a cigar, the brightest fragrance on this page by a distance and the one most often worn by a woman, though Xerjoff says nothing about gender. Ounass lists the 100 ml at AED 1,155. Our Nexos, spelled with an e on the store, follows the third-party pyramid, citrus and lavender, then honey, cinnamon, cashmeran and jasmine, then tobacco, tonka and vanilla; the 30 ml and 50 ml are available, the 100 ml is not at the moment. The best Xerjoff perfumes guide covers the house.
- Top: Bergamot, Lemon, Lavender
- Heart: Honey, Cinnamon, Cashmeran, Jasmine Sambac
- Base: Tobacco, Tonka Bean, Vanilla
6. Red Tobacco
The Gulf one from Paris. Red Tobacco launched in 2017, an eau de parfum credited to Pierre Montale, and it is Mancera's tobacco for this region: oud, cinnamon, saffron and incense up top with green apple and pear, patchouli and jasmine in the heart, tobacco, vanilla, amber, sandalwood, guaiac, musk and vetiver underneath. The brand lists no top notes on its own page, so the opening is the retail version. It is the loudest bottle here and the one that reads as men's on most shelves, though the brand does not say so. Ounass lists the 120 ml at AED 599 and had none when we checked. Our Red Tobacco prints the retail pyramid in full; the 30 ml and 50 ml are available, the 100 ml is not at the moment.
- Top: Cinnamon, Agarwood (Oud), Incense, Saffron, Nutmeg, Green Apple, White Pear
- Heart: Patchouli, Jasmine
- Base: Tobacco, Madagascar Vanilla, Amber, Sandalwood, Guaiac Wood, White Musk, Haitian Vetiver
7. Tobacco Nomade
The leathered one. Tabac Nomade launched in 2023 in Houbigant's Collection Orientale, an eau de parfum by Antoine Lie and Luca Maffei, from the Paris house founded in 1775 that is better known for its florals. The house lists bergamot, rose and spices, then tonka, saffron and tobacco, then vanilla; the retail pyramid adds leather to the base, which is what you smell after an hour. It is the dry tobacco here, rose and saffron over leaf and hide, closer to a saddle than a dessert. No approved UAE retailer listed it when we checked; the house sells it at 200 euros for 100 ml. Our Tobacco Nomade follows the retail pyramid with the leather kept in, and all three sizes are available.
- Top: Spices, Rose, Bergamot
- Heart: Tobacco Leaf, Tonka Bean, Saffron
- Base: Vanilla, Leather
8. Brazilian Tobacco
The Gulf house. Ibraheem Al Qurashi is a Saudi perfumer that, by its own account, began in Makkah in 1929 facing the Holy Mosque, and Brazilian Tobacco is from its Tobacco Collection, listed by Ounass as a 200 ml extrait launched in 2023; no perfumer is named and retailers disagree on whether it is an extrait or an eau de parfum, so we print what Ounass sells. The retail notes are bergamot, lavender, pink pepper and chili up top, tobacco, oud, cherry and cedar in the heart, leather, patchouli and vetiver underneath, which makes it the only bottle here that puts oud and tobacco side by side in the heart rather than one under the other. Ounass lists the 200 ml at AED 420 and had none when we checked. Our Brazilian Tobacco follows the retail pyramid, and all three sizes are available.
- Top: Bergamot, Lavender, Pink Pepper, Red Chili
- Heart: Tobacco, Oud, Cedarwood, Cherry
- Base: Leather, Patchouli, Vetiver
What tobacco perfume costs in the UAE
Three bands. Niche is AED 1,100 to 1,550: Tobacco Vanille at AED 1,120 for 50 ml on Ounass, which is AED 22 a millilitre and the most expensive juice on the page, Naxos at AED 1,155 and Tobacco Honey at AED 1,490 for 100 ml, Royal Tobacco at AED 1,550 for 100 ml at Faces and Bloomingdale's. Designer and Paris-niche is AED 550 to 600: Stronger With You Tobacco at AED 550 for 100 ml and Red Tobacco at AED 599 for 120 ml, both at Ounass. Gulf is AED 420 for 200 ml of Brazilian Tobacco. Tabac Nomade has no approved UAE listing. Four of the eight had no stock at the retailer when we checked, which is the usual state of tobacco in October, before the cool months.
Against that, MOJ's 50 ml bottles are AED 42 to 79, which is about a twenty-sixth of Tobacco Vanille per ml, a fourteenth of Royal Tobacco, a ninth of Tobacco Honey and roughly a fifth of Stronger With You Tobacco. All eight sit in the amber perfumes collection and most in the perfumes for men collection; there is no tobacco collection yet. Six of the eight also belong with the best vanilla perfumes, which tells you what tobacco perfume mostly is.
The tobacco perfumes you will not find here
Dior's Tobacolor, Initio's Side Effect and Jean Paul Gaultier's Le Male Elixir all have MOJ readings that are not available in any size at the moment, so they are not carded; when they return they belong on this page. Tom Ford's Tobacco Oud, Kilian's Back to Black and Parfums de Marly's Herod have no MOJ reading. If you came for one of those, Ounass and Faces carry the Tom Ford and Kilian lines.
How to choose between the eight
If you want the tobacco everyone means, Tobacco Vanilla, and buy the 50 ml, because it is the one you will wear most. If you want sweet but grown up, Honey Tobacco. If you want a bottle for the office that still smells of tobacco, You Tobacco, two sprays. If you want the cigar box, Tobacco Royal X, and go lightly, because the birch tar carries. If you want tobacco a woman wears in daylight, Nexos. If you want it loud and Gulf, Red Tobacco or Brazilian Tobacco, the first sweeter and the second drier. If you want leather under it, Tobacco Nomade. All eight are October to March scents here, two sprays before the cool months and four after; none of them is a July fragrance, whatever the retailer says. These are rules from character, not longevity figures in hours. For how MOJ builds an interpretation, our explainer on what inspired perfumes are covers it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille is the one most people mean: a 2007 Private Blend by Olivier Gillotin, tobacco leaf and spice over vanilla, cacao and tonka, AED 1,120 for 50 ml at Ounass. MOJ Tobacco Vanilla follows the same pyramid from AED 32. For a cigar-box tobacco rather than a dessert, Amouage's Royal Tobacco and MOJ's Tobacco Royal X from AED 39.
Sometimes. Tobacco absolute is solvent-extracted from cured leaves and sold with the nicotine stripped out; it smells of hay, honey and dried fruit. But most of what reads as tobacco in a bottle is an accord built from coumarin, vanilla, tonka and spice, with or without the absolute. That is why nearly every tobacco perfume sits so close to vanilla.
Both, depending on the bottle. Tom Ford, Amouage, Xerjoff and Houbigant say nothing about gender and retailers list theirs as unisex. Armani files Stronger With You Tobacco under men while Faces and Ounass call it unisex. Naxos, with its honey and lavender heart, is the one most often worn by women; Red Tobacco and Royal Tobacco read as men's on most shelves.
October to March. Tobacco is warm, sweet and resinous, so it turns loud in summer heat and comes into its own in air conditioning and on cool evenings. Two sprays before the cool months and four after. None of the eight on this page is a July fragrance, whatever a retailer's copy says.
Tobacco Vanille is AED 1,120 for 50 ml at Ounass, about AED 22 per ml. MOJ Tobacco Vanilla is AED 42 for 50 ml, about AED 0.84 per ml, roughly a twenty-sixth of the price for the same pyramid of tobacco leaf, vanilla, cacao, tonka and dried fruit. The 30 ml is AED 32; the 100 ml is not available at the moment.
