Best Lancome Perfumes in the UAE

Article Summary: Lancome has no in-house perfumer and no UAE online store, which is why its three fragrances that matter here come from three different fragrance houses and are priced by Faces and Bloomingdale's rather than by Lancome. La Vie Est Belle, from 2012, is the iris gourmand that built a category and now has eight flankers, most of which are not what the searcher means. Oud Bouquet is the house's one Gulf fragrance, relaunched in 2024 at more than AED 1,200. Idole, from 2019, is the clean rose in the thin bottle. Below: the perfumers where two or more sources agree, Lancome's own words for each, the flankers sorted by year, verified UAE prices, and MOJ versions from AED 39.

  • Lancome was launched in 1935 by Armand Petitjean with five fragrances at the Brussels World's Fair and has belonged to L'Oreal since 1964.
  • La Vie Est Belle is credited to Anne Flipo, Dominique Ropion and Olivier Polge; Idole to Shyamala Maisondieu, Adriana Medina and Nadege Le Garlantezec; Oud Bouquet to Fabrice Pellegrin on Lancome's own pages.
  • Oud Bouquet launched as a Harrods exclusive in 2014, moved into Maison Lancome, and was reissued in June 2024 in the Absolue Les Parfums line.
  • Lancome runs no UAE online store and Ounass carries no Lancome. Faces lists La Vie Est Belle at AED 670 for 100 ml and the Maison Oud Bouquet at AED 1,090; Bloomingdale's has the Absolue Oud Bouquet at AED 1,205.
  • MOJ carries two of the three: La Vie Belle in all sizes from AED 39, Oud Bouquet in 30 and 50 ml from AED 39. Idole W is unavailable at the moment.

Who makes Lancome perfume

Lancome is a L'Oreal house, and has been since 1964, which shapes everything about how its perfumes are made. There is no master perfumer and no house laboratory in the way Chanel or Louis Vuitton have one; each fragrance is briefed out to the big fragrance suppliers and composed there. La Vie Est Belle came from IFF, Idole from Givaudan, Oud Bouquet from Firmenich, and the names on the bottles are the names of those companies' perfumers. That is not a weakness, it is how most of the designer market works, but it means a Lancome shelf has no single signature running through it, and it means the three fragrances below smell nothing like each other.

The house itself was launched in 1935 by Armand Petitjean, who had worked for Coty, with five fragrances shown at the Brussels World's Fair that year: Tropiques, Conquete, Kypre, Tendre Nuit and Bocages. Historians add Guillaume d'Ornano as co-founder; L'Oreal's own account credits Petitjean alone. Lancome spent its first decades as a perfume and skincare house with roughly equal weight, and it is still the rare beauty brand whose fragrance business is as large as its make-up.

Eight La Vie Est Belles: which one you are actually buying

The searcher who types La Vie Est Belle means the 2012 eau de parfum, and a counter will often hand her something else. The original is the one with the crystal smile bottle and Julia Roberts, who has fronted it since launch. After it came L'Eau de Parfum Intense in 2015 and L'Eclat in 2017, both by Ropion and Flipo again; Intensement in 2020; Iris Absolu in 2023; L'Elixir in 2024, this time by Christophe Raynaud and Antoine Maisondieu; Vanille Nude in 2025; and L'Elixir Very Cherry this year. Each is a different fragrance sharing a bottle shape and an iris, not a stronger version of the first. MOJ's La Vie Belle is built on the 2012 original, so if you are comparing at a counter, ask for the eau de parfum with no suffix.

The three, with the MOJ versions

1. La Vie Belle

The fragrance that made iris sweet. La Vie Est Belle launched in 2012, credited to Anne Flipo, Dominique Ropion and Olivier Polge, and Lancome's own description names concrete of iris pallida from France, patchouli from Bali and a gourmand vanilla, inside what it calls a floral gourmand bouquet. The house also says it took more than five thousand trials, which is a brand claim and a good story. The common reading opens with blackcurrant and pear, puts iris, jasmine and orange blossom in the heart, and lands on praline, vanilla, tonka and patchouli, and that is the reading our La Vie Belle follows. It is the most gifted women's fragrance in the UAE by a wide margin, and ours is the version to buy first if you suspect you already know how it smells from every lift in Dubai. All three sizes are available.

  • Top: Black Currant, Pear
  • Heart: Iris, Jasmine, Orange Blossom
  • Base: Praline, Vanilla, Patchouli, Tonka Bean

2. Oud Bouquet

The Gulf one, and the one with the complicated paperwork. Oud Bouquet first appeared in July 2014 as a Harrods exclusive in a 75 ml bottle, then became part of Maison Lancome, the house's niche line, and in June 2024 was reissued as part of Absolue Les Parfums, the current collection, at 100 ml. Lancome's own pages credit Fabrice Pellegrin; Fragrantica's 2014 entry credits Christophe Raynaud, and we print both. The house's words for the current version are a radical encounter between rose and oud with a praline accord, filed under a family it calls dark and dangerous; the older Maison version listed more, twenty-year-old oud wood, guaiac, copahu wood, centifolia rose absolute, vanilla and praline, and it is that fuller reading our Oud Bouquet follows, rose and praline over oud and copahu balm on vanilla and guaiac. In the UAE the Maison bottle is AED 1,090 at Faces but had none to sell when we checked; the Absolue bottle is AED 1,205 at Bloomingdale's and available. Ours is AED 39 for 30 ml and AED 54 for 50 ml; the 100 ml is not available at the moment.

  • Top: Rose, Praline
  • Heart: Agarwood (Oud), Copahu Balm
  • Base: Vanilla, Guaiac Wood

3. Idole

The clean one. Idole launched in August 2019 from three Givaudan perfumers, Shyamala Maisondieu, Adriana Medina and Nadege Le Garlantezec, with Zendaya as its face and a bottle that Lancome calls the thinnest in the world; trade press settles for one of the slimmest, at fifteen millimetres. The house describes it as fresh and floral, citrus, rose, jasmine and white musk, and names Isparta and centifolia roses with jasmine grandiflorum; the common reading adds bergamot, pear and pink pepper up top and vanilla, patchouli and cedar underneath. The flankers are L'Intense in 2020, Nectar in 2022, Now in 2023 and Power, an eau de parfum intense, from late 2024. In the UAE the eau de parfum is AED 530 for 50 ml at Faces and from AED 500 at Bloomingdale's. Our interpretation, Idole W, exists in all three sizes from AED 32 but is unavailable in all of them right now, so there is no card below; it will be back and we will update this page when it is.

What Lancome costs in the UAE

Lancome has no UAE online store of its own, and Ounass, which carries most of the French houses, does not carry Lancome at all, so the reference prices are Faces and Bloomingdale's. At Faces, La Vie Est Belle eau de parfum is AED 575 for 75 ml and AED 670 for 100 ml, with a second listing of the same bottle at AED 710, which is the kind of thing that happens when a retailer runs two product pages; Bloomingdale's starts it from AED 515. Idole is AED 530 for 50 ml at Faces and from AED 500 at Bloomingdale's. Oud Bouquet is AED 1,090 at Faces for the older Maison bottle and AED 1,205 at Bloomingdale's for the current Absolue one. Marketplaces undercut all of that and claim no authorisation from L'Oreal, and we do not quote them.

Against that, La Vie Belle is AED 39 for 30 ml and AED 79 for 100 ml, roughly an eighth of the original per ml, and Oud Bouquet is AED 39 for 30 ml against an original that costs thirty times as much. Both sit with the rest of our designer inspired perfumes, and La Vie Belle is also one of the five scents in our women's perfume kit for anyone who wants to try it beside Paradoxe, G Flora, Delina and My Way before choosing a bottle.

The Lancome fragrances you will not find here

Tresor, the 1990 rose and peach that was the house's bestseller for two decades, has no MOJ version, and nor do La Nuit Tresor, Hypnose or Miracle. Of the eight La Vie Est Belle flankers we interpret none, only the original. And Idole is, for now, a listing without stock. If one of those is what you came for, Faces and Bloomingdale's are the two approved counters in the UAE. For the scents around La Vie Est Belle on the same shelf, our guides to the best sweet perfumes and the best gourmand perfumes rank it against the rest of the category, and Oud Bouquet's relatives are in the best oud perfumes.

How to choose between them

If you want the one everybody recognises, La Vie Belle, and if you are buying a gift for a woman whose taste you do not know, it is the safest answer in the UAE after Coco Mademoiselle. If you want a Lancome that belongs to this region rather than to Paris, Oud Bouquet, which is sweeter and softer than most Gulf ouds and suits a woman as well as a man. Idole is the choice for someone who finds both too sweet, once it is back.

On size, 50 ml on La Vie Belle, because you will finish it; 30 ml first on Oud Bouquet, because praline and oud together is a taste. La Vie Belle is a cool-months fragrance in this climate, best from October to April and indoors in summer; Oud Bouquet is an evening scent all year and a daytime one only in winter. These are rules from character, not longevity figures in hours. New to inspired perfumes? The women's guide ranks La Vie Belle among its ten and explains how we build them.
