Best Maison Margiela Replica Perfumes in the UAE
Article Summary: Replica is the only designer fragrance line built around a date and a place rather than a mood, which is why every bottle carries a cotton label reading Chamonix 1971 or Amalfi Coast 2022, and why the line is searched more than the house that makes it. The fragrances are made under L'Oreal licence, the house is owned by Renzo Rosso's OTB, and the creative director since January 2025 is Glenn Martens. MOJ interprets two of the twenty: By the Fireplace, Marie Salamagne's 2015 chestnut and smoke, and Never-ending Summer, Christophe Raynaud's 2025 spritz. Below: the perfumers where two or more sources agree, Margiela's own notes, the rest of the line sorted by year, UAE prices from approved retailers, and MOJ versions from AED 39.
- Martin Margiela founded the house in Paris in 1988; OTB has been the majority owner since 2002; L'Oreal signed the fragrance licence in April 2008 and launched Replica in 2012 with Flower Market, Beach Walk and Funfair Evening.
- By the Fireplace is credited to Marie Salamagne and carries the label Chamonix 1971; Never-ending Summer is credited by the house to Christophe Raynaud and carries Amalfi Coast 2022, which is the memory, not the launch year.
- Margiela says Italian Spritz accord, not Aperol, which is a trademark; the live Replica copy on most retail sites gets this wrong.
- Both originals are AED 765 for 100 ml at Ounass and Bloomingdale's; Never-ending Summer was unavailable at Bloomingdale's when we checked.
- MOJ's Fire Place R is AED 39 to 79 and Replica, our Never-ending Summer reading, AED 54 to 138, both available in all sizes.
| Original | Year | UAE price | MOJ version | From (AED) |

Who makes Maison Margiela perfume
L'Oreal does, under a licence signed in April 2008, with the first fragrance, Untitled by Daniela Andrier, arriving in 2009 in Europe and more widely in 2010. The house itself is a stranger story. Martin Margiela, the Belgian who founded it in Paris in 1988 and never allowed himself to be photographed, sold a majority to Renzo Rosso's OTB group in 2002 and left in 2009; John Galliano ran it as creative director from 2014 until December 2024, and Glenn Martens was appointed in January 2025. The fragrances outlived all of those changes because they were never about the designer. Replica, launched in 2012 with Flower Market, Beach Walk and Funfair Evening, is built on a single idea: each scent is a memory, and each bottle wears a cotton label like a vintage garment, with three fields, provenance and period, fragrance description, and style. By the Fireplace reads Chamonix 1971. Never-ending Summer reads Amalfi Coast 2022. The year on the label is the memory, not the launch, and half the internet gets that wrong.
It is also why the line is searched more than the house. In the UAE, Replica perfume draws more than twice the searches of Maison Margiela perfume, and a good share of those are people who mean something else entirely, because replica is also what the Gulf calls a counterfeit. To be plain: these are Margiela's own fragrances, sold at Ounass and Bloomingdale's, and ours are original MOJ compositions inspired by two of them, labelled as such.
The two, with the MOJ versions
1. Fire Place R
The one that made Replica famous outside perfume circles. By the Fireplace launched in 2015 as an eau de toilette, credited to Marie Salamagne, and the house's own note list is pink pepper essence, orange flower absolute and clove oil up top; a chestnut accord, guaiac wood oil and cade oil in the heart; a vanilla accord, Peru balsam resinoid and cashmeran in the base. Cade is the burning-wood smell; most retail copy writes juniper instead, which is the tree cade comes from. It is sweet, smoky and roasted, and in a Gulf winter it is the scent people ask about on the lift. Ounass and Bloomingdale's both list the 100 ml at AED 765; a gold limited-edition bottle at AED 655 is no longer available. Our Fire Place R follows the house list closely, with juniper where Margiela writes cade, and it is the cheaper of our two by a distance. All three sizes are available.
- Top: Cloves, Pink Pepper, Orange Blossom
- Heart: Chestnut, Guaiac Wood, Juniper
- Base: Vanilla, Peru Balsam, Cashmeran
2. Replica
The newest memory in the line and the freshest thing it has done. Never-ending Summer launched in March 2025 as a refillable eau de toilette, credited by the house to Christophe Raynaud, who called it a celebration of the rhythm of the dolce vita. Margiela's own list is an Italian Spritz accord, bitter orange and a pepper duet up top; an Earl Grey accord, cardamom and nutmeg in the heart; vetiver, cedarwood and patchouli in the base. The house says Spritz, not Aperol, because Aperol is a trademark, and we follow the house. The label reads Amalfi Coast 2022. In the UAE it is AED 745 at Bloomingdale's, which had none to sell when we checked, and AED 765 on Ounass's listing. Our Replica, named for the line because the product predates our naming rules, follows the spritz and tea structure with a fuller base. It is our most expensive Margiela reading and the only one with a 100 ml above AED 100, and all three sizes are available.
- Top: Bitter Orange, Aperol, Pepper
- Heart: Earl Grey Tea, Cardamom, Nutmeg
- Base: Vetiver, Cedarwood, Patchouli, Cashmeran, Peru Balsam, Vanilla
The rest of the Replica line, by year
Twenty memories in thirteen years, and we interpret two. For the reader comparing at a counter, the line in order, with perfumers only where two sources agree: Flower Market, Beach Walk, by Jacques Cavallier and Marie Salamagne, and Funfair Evening in 2012; Jazz Club, by Alienor Massenet, and Lazy Sunday Morning in 2013; By the Fireplace in 2015; Sailing Day in 2017; Under the Lemon Trees, Whispers in the Library, Coffee Break and Springtime in a Park in 2019; Bubble Bath in 2020; Matcha Meditation, Autumn Vibes and When the Rain Stops in 2021; On a Date in 2022; From the Garden in 2023; Never-ending Summer in 2025. Mutiny, from 2018, is often shelved with them and is not a Replica at all; it was Galliano's own fragrance, by Dominique Ropion, in a different bottle. Jazz Club and Lazy Sunday Morning are the two most asked about that we do not carry, both AED 765 for 100 ml at Ounass and Bloomingdale's.
What Replica costs in the UAE
Margiela opened a UAE store in July 2025, but the fragrance prices that can be read from a product page come from Ounass and Bloomingdale's, and they are unusually flat: AED 765 for every 100 ml we checked, By the Fireplace, Jazz Club, Lazy Sunday Morning, with Never-ending Summer at AED 745 to 765 and Jazz Club showing both figures on the same site. Faces does not carry the line. No 30 ml is stocked by either approved retailer, which matters, because the 30 ml is how most people first buy a Replica. Marketplaces list the 100 ml lower and claim no authorisation from L'Oreal; the word replica makes that corner of the market more dangerous than most, and we do not quote it.
Against that, Fire Place R is AED 39 for 30 ml and AED 79 for 100 ml, about a tenth of the original per ml; Replica is AED 54 and AED 138, about a fifth. Both sit with the rest of our designer inspired perfumes, and Fire Place R belongs on the same shelf as the best winter perfumes, while Replica sits with the best fresh perfumes, where Never-ending Summer is already ranked.
How to choose between them
If it is October to March, Fire Place R; if it is April to September, Replica. That is the whole decision, and it is the rare pair where the two do not compete for the same month. Fire Place R is unisex in the way a cardigan is, and suits anyone who likes sweet smoke; Replica is unisex in the way a cold drink is, and suits anyone who finds ordinary citrus thin. If you are buying one Margiela interpretation as a gift and do not know the season the person will open it, Fire Place R, because chestnut and vanilla are liked by more people than bitter orange and tea.
On size, 50 ml on Fire Place R, which gets used, and 30 ml first on Replica, because a spritz accord is a specific taste. In this climate Fire Place R wants two sprays at most until the cool months arrive and four after; Replica can be reapplied at noon in July. These are rules from character, not longevity figures in hours. For what the line is and how we build our versions, our explainer on what inspired perfumes are covers it, and our guide to the best niche perfumes puts Replica beside the other lines in its price bracket.
Frequently Asked Questions
By UAE search, By the Fireplace, the 2015 Replica credited to Marie Salamagne, on clove, orange flower and pink pepper over a chestnut accord, guaiac and cade, finished with vanilla, Peru balsam and cashmeran. Jazz Club and Lazy Sunday Morning, both from 2013, are the two most asked about after it. For summer the newest, Never-ending Summer from 2025 by Christophe Raynaud, is the freshest thing the line has done. MOJ interprets By the Fireplace and Never-ending Summer in the UAE from AED 39.
AED 765 for 100 ml on product pages at both Ounass and Bloomingdale's; a gold limited-edition bottle was listed at AED 655 at Bloomingdale's and is no longer available. Neither approved retailer stocks the 30 ml, and Faces does not carry the line. Maison Margiela opened a UAE store in July 2025. Marketplaces list it lower and claim no authorisation from L'Oreal. MOJ's Fire Place R, built on the same chestnut, clove and vanilla direction, is AED 39 for 30 ml, AED 54 for 50 ml and AED 79 for 100 ml.
It is the memory, not the launch year. Every Replica carries a cotton label with three fields, provenance and period, fragrance description and style, written like a vintage garment's label. By the Fireplace reads Chamonix 1971 and launched in 2015; Never-ending Summer reads Amalfi Coast 2022 and launched in March 2025. The line itself began in 2012 with Flower Market, Beach Walk and Funfair Evening, and has reached about twenty fragrances by 2025.
L'Oreal, under a licence signed in April 2008; the first fragrance, Untitled by Daniela Andrier, arrived in 2009 in Europe and the Replica line in 2012. The fashion house was founded in Paris in 1988 by Martin Margiela, has been majority-owned by Renzo Rosso's OTB since 2002, and has had Glenn Martens as creative director since January 2025, after John Galliano's decade. Individual Replicas are composed by perfumers at the big fragrance houses: Marie Salamagne for By the Fireplace, Christophe Raynaud for Never-ending Summer, Alienor Massenet for Jazz Club.
No. Replica is the name of Maison Margiela's own fragrance line, launched in 2012, and each scent reproduces a memory, a fireplace in Chamonix or a summer on the Amalfi coast, rather than another perfume. The word confuses people in the Gulf because replica is also what counterfeit perfumes are called here, and a large share of searches for replica perfume are for fakes. The genuine line is sold at Ounass and Bloomingdale's at AED 765 for 100 ml. MOJ's versions are original compositions inspired by two of the Replicas, labelled as inspired, from AED 39.
