Best Hugo Boss Perfumes in the UAE
Article Summary: Boss Bottled is the Hugo Boss perfume most people mean, and the confusing part is that four different fragrances now carry that name. The 1998 eau de toilette by Annick Menardo is the original. The 2020 eau de parfum is a separate composition by a different perfumer. There is also a Parfum and a 2023 Elixir. The seven below cover what UAE retailers actually price, with the MOJ versions of three of them.
- Boss Bottled launched in 1998 as an eau de toilette composed by Annick Menardo, who also signed Boss Alive in 2020 and the Bottled Elixir in 2023.
- Boss Bottled Eau de Parfum arrived in October 2020 by Honorine Blanc, with a different pyramid built on black pepper, chestnut and cardamom rather than the original's clove and mahogany.
- Hugo Boss has never made its own fragrance. It granted its first licence in 1984, Procter and Gamble held it before Coty took over in 2016, and Coty's licence now runs beyond 2035.
- Boss The Scent For Her reached travel retail and the Middle East in June 2016, ahead of its summer global rollout and its August arrival in the United States.
- MOJ makes versions of Boss Bottled and Boss Bottled Unlimited from AED 39, and of Boss Bottled Marine from AED 43.

Hugo Boss has sold perfume for four decades without ever making any of it. The company was founded in Metzingen in 1924 by Hugo Ferdinand Boss as a workwear factory, granted its first fragrance licence in 1984, and has outsourced the category ever since. Procter and Gamble held the licence before Coty took it over in 2016, and Coty renewed it in December 2022 on terms running beyond 2035. That matters to a buyer because it explains the rhythm of the line: flankers arrive in waves, some are limited editions that vanish, and the core sellers get re-cut into new concentrations rather than replaced. Most of what MOJ makes from this house sits in the perfumes for men collection.
One thread runs through all of it: apple. Hugo, from the mid-1990s, is the crisp green apple that a generation of men wore to school and then to work. Boss Bottled, from 1998, is the same fruit turned warm and spiced, apple over cinnamon and clove on sandalwood and cedar. Bottled Infinite keeps it. So does the 2020 eau de parfum. So did Marine. Apple is not a note the house tried once, it is the house signature, which is why the family reads as a family even when the flankers go in different directions.
The usual rules apply. Every fact is verified against official pages and UAE retailer listings from September 2026, and prices are as listed at time of writing. Faces carries by far the deepest Hugo Boss range in the UAE, with more than thirty listings. Ounass runs a narrow edit. Bloomingdale's carries only a little Boss fragrance and does not list Boss Bottled at all.
The Best Hugo Boss Perfumes and the MOJ Version
1. Boss Bottled
Boss Bottled (1998, perfumer Annick Menardo) is the fragrance the rest of this list orbits. Apple and plum open it with bergamot and lemon, cinnamon and clove give the heart its spice, and it dries down on sandalwood, cedar and vetiver with vanilla underneath. Hugo Boss's own copy calls the heart a warm spicy floral dominated by geranium with clove, which is a fair description of why the thing has lasted: it is a fruity opening bolted to a proper woody base, and that combination ages better than either half would alone. Coty, reported by Glossy, puts it at number one by volume in men's fragrance across five European markets in 2025. AED 340 per 50ml and AED 450 per 100ml at Faces.
- Top: Apple, Plum, Bergamot, Lemon, Oakmoss, Geranium
- Heart: Cinnamon, Mahogany, Carnation
- Base: Vanilla, Sandalwood, Cedar, Vetiver, Olive Tree
The MOJ version starts at AED 39. The spiced apple that most UAE offices have smelled on someone, without the counter price.
2. Boss Bottled Marine
Marine is the coldest thing the Bottled line has produced. Spearmint and frozen apple open it, clary sage and cinnamon warm the middle, and cashmere wood with patchouli and sandalwood hold the base. Coty released it in 2022 as a limited edition, which is worth knowing before you get attached: it was never a permanent line member, and it has become hard to find at UAE counters since. Faces lists it at AED 325 per 50ml and AED 430 per 100ml.
- Top: Mint, Frosted Apple
- Heart: Clary Sage, Cinnamon
- Base: Cashmere Wood, Patchouli
The MOJ version starts at AED 43, and the mint-over-apple structure is what makes it the one to reach for between May and September. It sits alongside the picks in our fresh perfumes guide.
3. Boss Bottled Unlimited
Unlimited went the other way from Marine: mint and grapefruit up top with violet leaf, then pineapple and cinnamon over rose, landing on white musk, labdanum and sandalwood. It reached travel retail at the end of 2013 and rolled out more widely through 2014, and Cosmetics Business described it at launch as a limited edition for men, which is roughly how it has behaved since. It is no longer part of the core Hugo Boss range, though Faces still lists it at AED 430 per 100ml. No perfumer has ever been credited publicly for it.
- Top: Mint, Grapefruit, Violet Leaf
- Heart: Pineapple, Cinnamon, Rose
- Base: White Musk, Labdanum, Sandalwood
The MOJ version starts at AED 39. Pineapple and mint on a musk floor is the least obvious thing in this family and the most fun in heat.
4. Boss Bottled Infinite
Infinite (2019) is the eau de parfum that pushed the Bottled idea into herbs. Mandarin, apple, cinnamon and sage open it, patchouli, rosemary and lavender run the heart, and olivewood with sandalwood closes it. Coty's launch claim was that it was the first fine fragrance to use what the company called diamond technology to hold the top and heart notes on skin longer, which is marketing language rather than an audited performance figure, so treat it as such. AED 360 per 50ml and AED 475 per 100ml at Faces. We make no version of it.
5. Boss The Scent
The Scent (2015) is the house stepping away from apple entirely. Ginger and mandarin open it, the heart is built around maninka fruit with lavender, and leather and woods carry the base. It is the most sensual thing Hugo Boss sells to men and the one that reads least like an office fragrance, which is exactly its appeal. AED 425 per 50ml at Faces, and the current bottle is refillable, with a 200ml refill listed at AED 630, which is the cheapest way into this scent in the country. Its leather base puts it in conversation with our woody perfumes guide.
6. Hugo Man
This is the green apple. Launched in the mid-1990s simply as Hugo and sold today as Hugo Man, it opens on green apple, grapefruit and basil with mint and lavender, moves through sage, geranium and jasmine, and finishes on fir balsam, cedar and patchouli. It is the cheapest entry point to the house by a wide margin: AED 280 per 75ml and AED 370 per 125ml at Faces. If Boss Bottled is the spiced apple, this is the cold one, and the two together explain the whole apple thread that the house has never really abandoned.
7. Boss Alive and The Scent For Her
Boss Alive (2020, perfumer Annick Menardo) is the strongest women's fragrance the house currently sells: apple, blackcurrant, plum and cinnamon over jasmine sambac and thyme, on a base of Chinese cedarwood, sandalwood, olivewood and vanilla. Coty says it was built end to end by women, with the bottle designed by German jeweller Amelie Riech and the campaign directed by Rebecca Zlotowski. AED 465 per 50ml at Faces.
Boss The Scent For Her (2016) is the other one worth knowing, and it carries a fact this region should own. According to WWD, it launched first in travel retail and the Middle East in June 2016, ahead of its global summer rollout and its August arrival in the United States. Gulf buyers had it before Americans did. Peach and freesia over osmanthus, on roasted cocoa, and AED 465 per 50ml at Faces. No perfumer has been named for it publicly.
Four Fragrances Called Boss Bottled
This is where most buyers get caught, so here it is plainly. There are now four separate Boss Bottled fragrances on sale at once, and they are not strength grades of one formula.
The eau de toilette is the 1998 original by Annick Menardo, AED 340 per 50ml at Faces. The eau de parfum launched in October 2020 and is a different composition by a different perfumer, Honorine Blanc, built on apple and bergamot over black pepper, chestnut, cardamom and cinnamon oils, finishing on vetiver and musk, at AED 380 per 50ml. There is a Parfum at AED 475 per 100ml on Ounass. And Bottled Elixir Parfum Intense arrived in 2023 as the twenty-fifth anniversary release, composed by Menardo herself with Suzy Le Helley, and it is the only one that abandons the apple: frankincense and cardamom over vetiver and patchouli, on cedarwood and labdanum absolute. AED 525 per 100ml on Ounass.
So if someone tells you the eau de parfum is just a stronger Boss Bottled, they are wrong. It is a different perfume wearing the same name. The MOJ version above is built on the 1998 eau de toilette, which is the one the name usually means.
Hugo Boss Perfumes in the UAE
Faces is the stockist that matters, with more than thirty Hugo Boss listings and the only consistent AED pricing across sizes. Ounass runs a much narrower BOSS Beauty edit, mostly the newer parfum concentrations plus a few legacy flankers. Bloomingdale's UAE carries some Boss fragrance but not the core pillars, and its large BOSS brand page is apparel, watches and accessories rather than perfume.
Two things to know before you go looking. The BOSS and HUGO stores in Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates are fashion stores, and nothing we could verify confirms a fragrance counter inside them. And the brand's own UAE site does not sell fragrance at all, so the department stores are the route. Several older flankers, including Bottled Intense and the original Boss Number One from 1985, are not carried by any UAE retailer we would send you to.
Original or Inspired: How to Decide
Boss Bottled at AED 340 is not expensive by designer standards, and if you want the bottle, the refill programme on The Scent, or the Elixir's frankincense, the counter is the answer. What MOJ competes on is the everyday case: three of this house's most worn men's styles at AED 39 to AED 43, in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml, which is the difference between owning one Hugo Boss scent and rotating three. Our inspired perfumes explainer sets out exactly what a version does and does not promise, and the rest of the range sits in our designer inspired perfumes collection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Boss Bottled is the house signature and the one most people mean, a spiced apple composed by Annick Menardo in 1998 with cinnamon and clove over sandalwood, cedar and vetiver. Boss The Scent is the warmer evening alternative built on ginger, maninka fruit and leather, and Hugo Man is the cheapest way in, a green apple aromatic from the mid-1990s. In the UAE these run from about AED 280 to 425 per bottle at Faces, while MOJ versions of three Hugo Boss styles start at AED 39.
They are two different fragrances, not two strengths of one. The eau de toilette is the 1998 original by Annick Menardo, built on apple and plum over cinnamon, clove and mahogany, finishing on sandalwood, cedar and vetiver. The eau de parfum launched in October 2020 and was composed by Honorine Blanc, opening on apple and bergamot but running through black pepper, chestnut and cardamom to vetiver and musk. There is also a Boss Bottled Parfum and a 2023 Elixir Parfum Intense, so four separate fragrances now carry the Boss Bottled name.
Warm spiced apple on a dry woody base. It opens with apple, plum, bergamot and lemon, moves into cinnamon, mahogany and carnation, and settles on vanilla, sandalwood, cedar, vetiver and olive tree. Hugo Boss describes the heart as a warm spicy floral dominated by geranium with clove. The fruit reads bright for the first hour and the wood carries it from there, which is why it works in an office rather than only at night.
Faces carries by far the deepest range, with more than thirty Hugo Boss listings and consistent pricing across sizes. Ounass runs a narrower selection focused on the newer parfum concentrations. Bloomingdale's UAE carries some Boss fragrance but not the core pillars such as Boss Bottled. The BOSS and HUGO stores in Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates are fashion stores, and the brand's own UAE website does not sell fragrance, so department stores are the route.
