Best Calvin Klein Perfumes in the UAE
Article Summary: Euphoria is the Calvin Klein perfume worth starting with, composed in 2005 by Dominique Ropion, Carlos Benaim and Loc Dong, and it won Fragrance of the Year in the Women's Luxe category at the 34th FiFi Awards on April 3, 2006. What most guides miss is that Calvin Klein once built a fragrance specifically for this region and launched it at Dubai Duty Free. The seven below cover the line properly, with the MOJ version of Euphoria.
- Liquid Gold Euphoria launched in 2014 exclusively at Dubai International Airport with Dubai Duty Free, drawn from Middle Eastern perfumery, in an embossed matte gold flacon.
- Calvin Klein's own first fragrance, the eponymous 1978 chypre floral at 85 dollars an ounce, failed, and he sold the whole fragrance business to Minnetonka in 1980.
- Obsession, the first real Calvin Klein hit, was launched in 1985 by Minnetonka, not by Calvin Klein. Unilever bought the licence in 1989 for 376.2 million dollars and Coty took it in 2005 for 800 million.
- CK One did not invent unisex perfumery. L'Eau d'Issey, Gap Grass and Comme des Garcons all arrived in the same year, 1994. Alberto Morillas and Harry Fremont composed it.
- The MOJ version of Euphoria is priced from AED 32, and the Euphoria and Vanille Rose pairing from AED 71.

Calvin Klein gave up on perfume before it made him famous. He founded the label in 1968 with his childhood friend Barry Schwartz on ten thousand dollars, making women's coats and suits, and launched his first fragrance in 1978, an eponymous chypre floral priced at eighty five dollars an ounce. It did not sell. By 1980 he had sold the entire fragrance and cosmetics business to a licensee called Minnetonka, and it was Minnetonka, not Calvin Klein, that launched Obsession in 1985 and turned the name into a perfume house. Unilever bought the licence in 1989 for 376.2 million dollars. Coty took it in 2005 as part of an 800 million dollar purchase of Unilever's whole prestige fragrance arm, and Coty still holds it today. Most of what MOJ makes from this house sits in the perfumes for women collection.
That history matters because it explains the shape of the line. Calvin Klein fragrance has always been run by whoever held the licence, which is why the range swings between mass-market unisex bottles and dark, expensive orientals, and why some of its best work was made for markets Calvin Klein himself never thought about. One of those bottles was made for this one.
The usual rules apply. Every fact is verified against official pages, trade press and retailer listings from September 2026. On prices we are going to be unusually blunt, because the UAE situation for this house is not what a reader would expect, and the section near the end sets out exactly where Calvin Klein fragrance is and is not sold here.
The Best Calvin Klein Perfumes and the MOJ Version
1. Euphoria
Euphoria (2005, perfumers Dominique Ropion, Carlos Benaim and Loc Dong of IFF) is the one to start with and the only Calvin Klein fragrance in this guide with a properly citable award: Fragrance of the Year, Women's Luxe, at the 34th annual FiFi Awards on April 3, 2006. Pomegranate and persimmon open it over a green accord, black orchid and lotus blossom carry the middle with champaca, and it lands on liquid amber, mahogany, black violet and a cream accord. Calvin Klein's own copy describes it as contrasting exotic fruits, florals and a rich creamy signature, which is brand language but an accurate summary of the structure. Note that an eau de toilette exists alongside the eau de parfum, so the name alone does not tell you which one you are holding.
- Top: Pomegranate, Persimmon, Green Accord
- Heart: Black Orchid, Lotus, Champaca
- Base: Mahogany, Amber, Black Violet, Whipped Cream
The MOJ version starts at AED 32, which makes it the cheapest entry in our entire women's range, and the amber floor is what puts it in the same conversation as our amber perfumes guide.
2. Liquid Gold Euphoria
This is the entry no international listicle carries, and it is the reason a Gulf shelf of Calvin Klein has never looked like an American one. In April 2014 Coty Prestige launched Liquid Gold Euphoria, in women's and men's versions, drawn from Middle Eastern perfumery traditions: a woody oriental of cinnamon, black orchid and sandalwood, in an opaque matte gold and gloss black flacon carrying an embossed Middle Eastern pattern. It went on sale exclusively at Dubai International Airport with Dubai Duty Free, holding regional exclusivity before any wider rollout, and Fragrantica separately records it as made for sale in Arab countries and apparently available only in this region.
A designer house building a scent for the Gulf and putting it in Dubai first, ahead of everywhere else on earth, is a better fact about Calvin Klein than anything in its advertising history. It is also no longer part of the official line-up, so treat it as the piece of regional history that explains the rest rather than as a shopping suggestion.
3. CK One
CK One (1994, perfumers Alberto Morillas and Harry Fremont of Firmenich) is the most famous thing this house has made and the most commonly misdescribed. It did not invent unisex perfumery. The same year brought L'Eau d'Issey, Gap Grass and Comme des Garcons, and Fremont's own account is that the brief was for a fragrance for men and women done on a scale nobody had tried before. That is a claim about reach, not about being first, and it is the accurate one: CK One was the first unisex fragrance built and sold at mass-market scale, and by a wide margin the most successful.
The composition runs to twenty one declared notes, which is unusual: lemon, bergamot, mandarin, pineapple, papaya, cardamom and green notes on top, a floral middle of jasmine, rose, lily of the valley, violet, orris and freesia, then musk, cedar, sandalwood, oakmoss, amber and green tea. It reads as clean citrus and tea rather than as a floral, which is why it still works in this climate. We do make our own version of it, and it is on its way to the online store, and the citrus territory CK One opened up sits in our fresh perfumes guide.
4. CK2
CK2 (2016, perfumer Pascal Gaurin of IFF) is the sequel, twenty two years later, and it is more interesting than its reception suggested. Wasabi, mandarin and violet leaf open it, and the declared heart note is wet cobblestones, which is Coty's own wording and is doing real work: the middle really does smell of rain on stone, with orris and rose behind it, before vetiver, incense and sandalwood close it out. Where CK One went for clean, CK2 went for damp and mineral. It is the better fragrance of the two for anyone who finds citrus musks boring.
5. Eternity
Eternity (1988, perfumer Sophia Grojsman of IFF) is the most solidly documented fragrance in this guide and the one that established Calvin Klein as a serious perfume house rather than a licensing exercise. Grojsman built it as a fresh green opening over a large white floral heart, lily, lily of the valley, narcissus and marigold with carnation, drying down powdery on musk, sandalwood and amber. It is the template a great deal of late eighties and early nineties perfumery copied. Calvin Klein says Christy Turlington fronted the first campaign in 1988 and returned to it in 2014, 2016 and 2020, which is an unusually long relationship between a face and a bottle.
6. Obsession
Obsession (1985, perfumer Jean Guichard, who later ran the Givaudan Perfumery School) is the fragrance that built the business, and as covered above it was launched by Minnetonka rather than by Calvin Klein. It is a spiced amber oriental with a base of amber, oakmoss, vanilla, musk and civet, and the civet is the point: it is animalic in a way almost nothing on a modern designer counter is willing to be. Sources disagree on which tier the jasmine, rose and orange blossom sit in, so treat the pyramid loosely and the family as settled. Obsession for Men is a separate fragrance from 1986, not a variant of this one.
7. Defy
Defy (2021) is the most recent thing here worth attention, composed by Anne Flipo, Pascal Gaurin and Loc Dong of IFF, with Richard Madden as its face. Its note list is startlingly short for a modern launch, just bergamot, lavender absolute, vetiver oil and amber, and Calvin Klein states the vetiver is responsibly sourced from Haiti. Four materials and nothing to hide behind is a harder brief than twenty one, and it is the clearest sign that the house is still trying things. An eau de parfum followed in 2022 and a parfum in 2023.
8. The Euphoria Pairing
Euphoria's pomegranate and black orchid contrast has an obvious partner in a rose vanilla, which is why we box it with Vanille Rose. Worn as a pair, Vanille Rose goes on first as the base and Euphoria over the top, and the combination keeps the drama of the orchid while softening the fruit into something that holds indoors through a long evening.
- Euphoria side: pomegranate, persimmon, black orchid, amber
- Vanille Rose side: rose and vanilla warmth
- Vanille Rose first, Euphoria over the top
From AED 71 for the pair, and the rest of the pairings sit in our layering sets collection.
Where Calvin Klein Fragrance Actually Lives in the UAE
Here is the part other guides will not tell you, because it takes actually checking. Ounass carries Calvin Klein blazers, shirts, sneakers and bags, and no fragrance at all. Bloomingdale's UAE carries around a hundred Calvin Klein items, all of them underwear, tees, sleepwear and socks, and no fragrance. For a house this famous, two of the country's biggest luxury retailers simply do not sell its perfume.
Faces does carry it, but the catalogue is thin and skewed to flankers: the Euphoria Elixirs, CK Women, a set of hair and body mists, and the Euphoria aftershave balm. CK One, CK2, CK Be, CK Everyone, Obsession and Contradiction are absent from it entirely. The Calvin Klein store in Dubai Mall is listed by the mall's own directory as carrying fragrance alongside apparel, and the brand runs its own UAE website, which is the most reliable route to the classics. Everything else you will find in a search result is a marketplace listing, and those are worth treating with caution on a fragrance this widely counterfeited.
Original or Inspired: How to Decide
Calvin Klein sits at the accessible end of designer pricing, so the case for the original is stronger here than with a niche house: if you want Eternity or CK One specifically, the brand's own UAE store is where to go, and the Elixir tier at twenty eight percent concentration is a real step up in longevity. What MOJ competes on is Euphoria, the one with the award and the one people actually ask for, at AED 32 in 30ml rather than several hundred for 50ml, plus the option of pairing it. Our inspired perfumes explainer sets out exactly what a version does and does not promise, and the rest of the range is in our designer inspired perfumes collection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Euphoria is the strongest starting point. Composed in 2005 by Dominique Ropion, Carlos Benaim and Loc Dong of IFF, it won Fragrance of the Year in the Women's Luxe category at the 34th FiFi Awards on April 3, 2006, and it pairs pomegranate and persimmon with black orchid over a creamy amber base. CK One is the famous one, a citrus and green tea unisex eau de toilette from 1994, and Eternity by Sophia Grojsman is the classic white floral. The MOJ version of Euphoria starts at AED 32.
A dark fruity floral with a creamy finish. Pomegranate, persimmon and a green accord open it, black orchid, lotus blossom and champaca make up the heart, and it dries down on liquid amber, mahogany, black violet and a cream accord. Calvin Klein's own description calls it a contrast of exotic fruits, florals and a rich creamy signature. It reads as an evening fragrance rather than a daytime one, and it lasts well in air conditioning.
No, though it is often described that way. Nineteen ninety four, the year CK One launched, also brought L'Eau d'Issey, Gap Grass and Comme des Garcons, all marketed without a gender. Harry Fremont, who composed CK One with Alberto Morillas, has described the brief as a fragrance for men and women made on a scale nobody had attempted before. So CK One was the first unisex fragrance built and sold at mass market scale, and by far the most successful, but not the first to exist.
Mainly through Calvin Klein's own UAE website and its stores. Two of the country's largest luxury retailers carry no Calvin Klein fragrance at all: Ounass stocks only the clothing and accessories, and Bloomingdale's UAE stocks only underwear, tees and sleepwear. Faces carries a narrow selection weighted towards the Euphoria Elixirs and body mists, with CK One, CK2, CK Be, Obsession and CK Everyone absent. The Calvin Klein store in Dubai Mall is listed by the mall directory as carrying fragrance.
