Who makes Dolce & Gabbana perfume
For thirty years, somebody else. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana met in Milan in 1980, set up their own studio there in 1982 and showed the label for the first time in 1985. The first fragrance, Dolce & Gabbana Pour Femme, came in 1992 and was made and distributed by Euroitalia, as most Italian designer scents were; the licence passed to Procter & Gamble in the mid 2000s and then, in October 2016, to Shiseido, after the house refused to let it travel to Coty with the rest of P&G's beauty business. In February 2022 the designers announced they were ending that arrangement and taking the perfumes and makeup in-house under a new company, Dolce & Gabbana Beauty, which took full control in January 2023. Devotion, released that September, was the first big launch of the in-house era, and it reads like a statement of intent: a bottle sealed with the house's own gold Sacred Heart, an Italian dessert as its brief and the house's own name on the invoice.
That matters for two reasons. Devotion and everything after it are the house's own decisions, not a licensee's, and the older fragrances, Light Blue above all, are now the engine that pays for them. MOJ makes inspired readings of two of the four below, Devotion and K, in our designer inspired perfumes collection. The usual rules apply: every fact is stated where two or more independent sources agree, every price is from an approved UAE retailer as listed this week, and no reading of ours is presented as the original.
Where to try the originals in the UAE
Dolce & Gabbana has two boutiques in Dubai, the three-floor store on Fashion Avenue at The Dubai Mall opened in 2018 and the ground-floor flagship at Mall of the Emirates, redesigned and reopened in January 2024, but those are fashion boutiques, and we could not confirm that either sells fragrance. The reliable counters are Bloomingdale's at The Dubai Mall, Faces and Ounass online, all of which carried the four fragrances below when we checked, with the usual caveat that Faces showed several as unavailable when we looked. There is no Dolce & Gabbana Beauty web store for the UAE, so the counters are where the prices come from.
The two, with the MOJ versions
1. Devotion
The newest and the reason the house is back in this guide. Devotion launched in September 2023, an eau de parfum composed by Olivier Cresp, the perfumer who wrote the house's Light Blue two decades earlier, and the house names three materials: candied lemon on top, orange blossom absolute in the heart and Madagascar vanilla underneath. Cresp has said the scent celebrates panettone, the Italian Christmas cake, and the bottle is sealed with a gold three-dimensional Sacred Heart, the emblem the house has put on its Devotion handbags since 2018. It is a lemon-pastry fragrance for a woman who wants sweet without heavy, and it is the house's newest pillar. Ounass lists the 100 ml at AED 725 and Faces the 50 ml at AED 540. Two flankers have followed, Devotion Intense in 2024 with hazelnut and Devotion Pour Homme in January 2025 with coffee; the one this guide means is the original with no suffix.
Our Devotion follows the candied lemon, orange blossom and vanilla structure, with panna cotta and rum in the heart as our product page lists them, in all three sizes from AED 37. Date nights and relaxed evenings, any month, and the cheapest route into the house on this page. Its sweet-tooth cousins are in our guide to the best vanilla perfumes.
- Top: candied lemon
- Heart: panna cotta, orange blossom, rum
- Base: vanilla
2. King
K by Dolce & Gabbana launched in 2019 as an eau de toilette, composed by Daphne Bugey and Nathalie Lorson, with a crown for a cap and a brief the house summed up as a man who is the king of his everyday life. The official structure is Sicilian lemon, blood orange and juniper on top, pimento, lavender, clary sage and geranium in the heart, then Haitian vetiver, cedar and patchouli. An eau de parfum followed in 2020 by the same two perfumers, with the crown in burnished silver instead of gold and cardamom, fig milk and nagarmotha added to the formula; K Intense arrived in 2024 and a K Elixir in 2026. UAE retailers disagree on the eau de toilette's price, Faces at AED 449 and Ounass at AED 552 for 100 ml, so treat that as the range.
Our King reads the 2019 eau de toilette, not the eau de parfum: juniper, blood orange and Sicilian lemon over pimento, lavender, clary sage and geranium, on vetiver, cedar and patchouli, with no fig and no cardamom. The 100 ml is the size available at the moment, at AED 69; the 30 and 50 ml are not. Office and every day from spring into summer, and it sits with the rest of the clean citrus school in our guide to the best fresh perfumes.
- Top: juniper berries, citruses, blood orange, Sicilian lemon
- Heart: pimento, lavender, clary sage, geranium
- Base: vetiver, cedar, patchouli
The Dolce & Gabbana perfumes MOJ does not make yet
Light Blue is the big one. Olivier Cresp composed it in 2001, Alberto Morillas composed Light Blue Pour Homme in 2007, and together they are the house's engine: the beauty division's chief executive told Elle in 2025 that the Light Blue franchise still sits in the global top five after twenty-five years and brings in more than 35 percent of the house's perfume revenue. For the anniversary the two perfumers reworked both formulas, relaunched in June 2025. Faces lists the women's 100 ml eau de toilette at AED 659. The One is the other classic, an amber floral by Christine Nagel from 2006, with The One for Men by Olivier Polge following in 2008; Ounass and Bloomingdale's both list the women's 75 ml eau de parfum at AED 684, Faces lower at AED 558. We carry none of the four at the moment, and we would rather say so than card a product that does not exist.
The house's two readings sit in the perfumes for women collection and the perfumes for men collection. If Light Blue is what you came for, the honest answer is the counter at Bloomingdale's, and if what you want is a sweet Italian citrus for evenings or a clean juniper citrus for the office, Devotion and King are the two we make, at AED 37 for 30 ml and AED 69 for 100 ml, a twentieth and a seventh of the originals respectively. How a reading is built, and what it does and does not promise, is set out in our explainer on what inspired perfumes are.
Frequently Asked Questions
Light Blue is the house's biggest fragrance by a distance: composed by Olivier Cresp in 2001, it still brings in more than 35 percent of Dolce & Gabbana's global perfume revenue according to the beauty division's chief executive. Devotion, the 2023 candied-lemon and vanilla eau de parfum also by Cresp, is the newest pillar, K by Dolce & Gabbana from 2019 is the men's choice and The One from 2006 is the amber floral classic. MOJ makes inspired readings of Devotion and K, from AED 37.
Dolce & Gabbana itself, through a company called Dolce & Gabbana Beauty. The perfumes were licensed to Euroitalia from 1992, then Procter & Gamble, then Shiseido from October 2016. In February 2022 the house announced it was taking fragrance and makeup in-house, and Dolce & Gabbana Beauty took full control in January 2023. Devotion, launched in September 2023, was the first major release of the in-house era.
Candied lemon, orange blossom and Madagascar vanilla, in that order: a sugared citrus opening over a white floral heart on a warm vanilla base. Olivier Cresp, who composed it, has said it celebrates panettone, the Italian Christmas cake. It is an eau de parfum in a bottle sealed with the house's gold Sacred Heart. Devotion Intense from 2024 adds hazelnut and Devotion Pour Homme from 2025 adds coffee, so check the name on the box.
At approved UAE retailers, Devotion eau de parfum is AED 725 for 100 ml at Ounass and AED 540 for 50 ml at Faces; K by Dolce & Gabbana eau de toilette is AED 449 to 552 for 100 ml depending on the retailer; Light Blue eau de toilette is AED 659 for 100 ml at Faces; The One eau de parfum is AED 684 for 75 ml at Ounass and Bloomingdale's. The MOJ readings of Devotion and K are AED 37 for 30 ml and AED 69 for 100 ml.
Both exist. The original K from 2019 is an eau de toilette with a gold crown cap, built on Sicilian lemon, blood orange and juniper over pimento, lavender, clary sage and geranium, on vetiver, cedar and patchouli. The eau de parfum from 2020, by the same perfumers Daphne Bugey and Nathalie Lorson, has a silver crown and adds cardamom, fig milk and nagarmotha. K Intense followed in 2024. The MOJ reading, King, follows the 2019 eau de toilette.
