Burberry's perfumes smell the way the trench coat looks: British weather turned into a point of pride. Thomas Burberry founded the house in 1856 and invented gabardine, the fabric that kept soldiers dry; since 2017 the fragrances have been made under an exclusive long-term license with Coty, and they keep hiring serious noses, including Francis Kurkdjian of Baccarat Rouge 540 fame. The Best Burberry Perfumes, With the MOJ Routes

1. Burberry Her

Burberry Her (2018, perfumer Francis Kurkdjian) made London taste like berries: blackcurrant, blueberry and raspberry over jasmine and violet, dried down with amber and musk, in what Kurkdjian described as an airy gourmand. It sells from about AED 500 per 50ml at UAE retailers when stocked.

2. Her Eau de Parfum Intense

Her Eau de Parfum Intense (2024) is the current flagship of the Her family, replacing the discontinued 2019 Intense: wild strawberry poured over orange blossom on a clean Ambroxan base, jammier and louder than the original Her. AED 525 to 725 per 100ml in the UAE depending on retailer and version.

The MOJ version, Mrs Berry Intense, starts at AED 32 and follows this exact style. Date nights, gifting and anyone whose sweet tooth runs to jam rather than sugar.

3. Hero

Hero (EDT 2021, EDP 2022, perfumer Aurelien Guichard) is Burberry's modern masculine, fronted by a horse and rider galloping through the campaign: the EDT rides bergamot over a trio of Atlas, Virginia and Himalayan cedarwood with juniper and black pepper, while the richer EDP adds pine needles and benzoin. In the UAE the EDT runs about AED 255 to 380 per 100ml and the EDP AED 420 to 590.

4. Goddess

Goddess (2023, perfumer Amandine Clerc-Marie) is the awarded one: a trio of vanillas, infusion, caviar and absolute, lifted by Provence lavender, and winner of the 2024 Fragrance Foundation Fragrance of the Year for women's prestige. In the UAE it runs about AED 375 to 660 per 100ml depending on retailer.

5. Mr. Burberry

Mr. Burberry (2016, credited to perfumer Francis Kurkdjian) bottles the trench coat literally: the cap is weighted like the coat's horn-look buttons and the neck wears a knot of English-woven gabardine. Inside, grapefruit and tarragon open onto birch leaf and cedar, with vetiver and guaiac wood underneath. Heavily discounted locally, from about AED 180 per 100ml EDT.

My Burberry (2014, created by Francis Kurkdjian with then creative director Christopher Bailey) was built on one image: a London garden after the rain. Sweet pea and bergamot over geranium, freesia and quince, with rose underneath, at AED 700 per 90ml in the UAE.

Original or Inspired: How to Decide

Burberry is quietly one of the best-value designer houses in the UAE: the discount market runs deep, and Mr. Burberry at AED 180 or Hero EDT at AED 255 are legitimately fair prices for what is in the bottle.
