Best Arabic Perfumes in the UAE

Article Summary: Arabic perfumery is not a trend the region joined; it is the tradition everyone else borrowed from. Oud, luban, saffron, musk and amber were traded through Arabia for centuries before Paris bottled any of them, and the word amber itself is Arabic. This guide covers both sides of that story: five MOJ originals, created by a house born in Oman, and five Arabic-style icons interpreted honestly, from a 2,280-dirham Amouage attar to a viral gourmand. Prices start at AED 26.

  • All 10 perfumes come in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml sprays, priced from AED 26 to AED 175.
  • Five are MOJ original creations built on Arabic pillars: Khanjar, Saffron Oud, Luban, Oud Royal and Man Musk.
  • Amouage Oud Ulya, the attar our luxe pick follows, sells for AED 2,280 per 12ml of pure oil and is often unavailable at UAE retailers.
  • Guerlain's Cherry Oud (2022) and Dior's Oud Ispahan show how Paris writes Arabic themes; both cost four figures in the UAE.
  • Luban is frankincense, Oman's ancient export, and the note behind our AED 32 tribute.

Here is the part most perfume guides get backwards: Arabic perfumery is not a genre inside the fragrance world, it is the foundation under it. Oud smoke, luban resin, saffron, musk and amber moved through Arabia's incense routes for centuries before a single French maison existed, and when Paris wanted a name for its warmest accord, it borrowed ours: amber, from the Arabic anbar. MOJ was born in Oman, the land of frankincense, so this guide is written from inside the tradition, not looking in. Five picks below are our own original creations on Arabic pillars; five interpret the icons others built on the same foundations. All of it lives in our Arabic perfumes collection, from AED 26.

The usual rules apply. Every fact about the originals is verified against official brand pages and UAE retailer listings from September 2026, prices are as listed at time of writing, and where sources disagree we say so.

Our Arabic Originals

1. Khanjar

Khanjar carries the name of the curved Omani dagger worn as a mark of honour, and wears like one: spicy saffron and rich rose over smoky oud and leather, settling into amber and musk. It is a MOJ original creation, our flagship Arabic composition, made for those who wield power with elegance.

  • Top: spicy saffron, rich rose
  • Heart: smoky oud, leather
  • Base: amber, musk

From AED 54. Majlis evenings, national holidays and every occasion where presence matters more than volume; the amber side of it continues in our best amber perfumes guide.

2. Saffron Oud

Saffron Oud is Arabic perfumery in its shortest sentence: the world's most precious spice meeting its most precious wood, warmed with nutmeg and amber. A MOJ original with no shortcuts and no detours, and at AED 26 for 30ml, the friendliest doorway into the entire genre.

  • Top: premium saffron
  • Heart: smoky, resinous agarwood (oud)
  • Base: spicy nutmeg, warm amber

From AED 26. Friday gatherings, first ouds and anyone who wants the tradition without a lecture; our best saffron perfumes guide maps the spice from here.

3. Luban

Luban is the Arabic name for frankincense, the resin that made southern Arabia rich two thousand years before oil did, and the scent of every Gulf home that has ever lit a burner. Our original opens with that smoky resin and bergamot, warms through cardamom and myrrh, and rests on amber, oud and sandalwood: ancient luxury, bottled.

  • Top: smoky frankincense, bergamot
  • Heart: cardamom, myrrh
  • Base: amber, oud, sandalwood

From AED 32. Ramadan nights, quiet offices and anyone homesick for the smell of a grandmother's majlis.

4. Oud Royal

Oud Royal is our deep Arabian statement: rich oud and warm spices opening onto smooth amber and rose, with a base of smoky woods and soft powder. Where Saffron Oud introduces the genre, this one graduates you, at a price that stays polite.

  • Top: rich oud, warm spices
  • Heart: smooth amber, rose
  • Base: smoky woods, balsamic richness, soft powdery accords

From AED 48. Winter evenings and formal wear; the full genre lives in our best oud perfumes guide.

5. Man Musk

Man Musk is built on musk rijali, the clean, dry masculine musk the Gulf has worn for generations, sharpened with cedarwood and grounded in earthy patchouli. A MOJ original, not an interpretation of any existing brand, and engineered for this climate all year round.

  • Top: sharp cedarwood
  • Heart: musk rijali
  • Base: earthy patchouli

From AED 48. Office days, prayer clothes and the man who wants to smell impeccable rather than loud; our best musk perfumes guide has the family tree.

6. Oud Ulya

Oud Ulya (2021, perfumer Cecile Zarokian) is Amouage's attar, a 100 percent pure perfume oil in the oldest Arabic format there is: Assam oud and birch tar smoothed with vanilla, deepened with animalic shadows. The original costs AED 2,280 for 12ml of oil and is often unavailable at UAE luxury retailers, which tells you everything about demand.

  • Top: agarwood (oud), birch tar
  • Heart: vanilla, castoreum
  • Base: civet, agarwood (oud)

The MOJ version starts at AED 69, our luxe pick, offered as a spray rather than an oil. If you have ever wanted to smell what AED 190 per millilitre is chasing, this is the affordable ticket.

7. Oud Isphahan A

Oud Ispahan (2012, perfumer Francois Demachy) is what happens when Paris writes an Arabic love letter: Damascus rose and saffron wrapped in labdanum over oud and sandalwood, the modern reference for the region's oldest triangle, at around AED 2,000 per 200ml at Dior's UAE boutiques.

  • Top: labdanum
  • Heart: rose, patchouli, saffron
  • Base: agarwood (oud), sandalwood, cedar

The MOJ version starts at AED 48 and has anchored four of our guides now, because it earns it: the Gulf's taste, written abroad, brought home at a fraction of the fare.

8. Cherry Oud

Cherry Oud (2022, perfumer Delphine Jelk) is Guerlain's take on the modern Arabic sweet tooth: cherry brightened with cinnamon and cardamom over Turkish and Bulgarian rose, dried down through oud and leather. It sells for AED 1,490 per 100ml in the UAE and has become the reference for the cherry-oud pairing everyone now copies.

  • Top: black cherry, fruity accords, spices
  • Heart: Turkish rose, Bulgarian rose, leather
  • Base: oud wood, patchouli, sandalwood, smoky woods

The MOJ version starts at AED 48. Date nights and winter dinners; sweet on the approach, serious on the drydown.

9. Khamrah

Khamrah follows the style of one of the region's most talked-about gourmands of recent years: dates, praline and tuberose under a cinnamon and nutmeg opening, finished with vanilla, amberwood and myrrh. Dessert-first Arabic perfumery, and the style half the Gulf's compliments came from last winter.

  • Top: cinnamon, nutmeg, bergamot
  • Heart: dates, praline, tuberose, mahonial
  • Base: vanilla, tonka bean, amberwood, benzoin, myrrh, akigalawood

The MOJ version starts at AED 32. Winter evenings, engagement seasons and anyone whose sweet tooth extends to their wrists.

10. Wild Colt

Wild Colt follows a cult 2022 release from a Saudi house, written for the Najd desert and Arabian horses: saffron and grapefruit charging over leather and labdanum into an ambergris and oakmoss base. It closes this guide the way the region's story deserves: not with an interpretation of Paris, but with the new wave of Arabic houses being interpreted themselves.

  • Top: saffron, grapefruit, bergamot, pink pepper, mint
  • Heart: leather, patchouli, vetiver, labdanum
  • Base: ambergris, musk, oakmoss, amberwood

The MOJ version starts at AED 39. Raw, confident and unmistakably of this region.

How to Wear Arabic Perfume

Arabic perfumery rewards a different technique than western sprays: fewer sprays, warmer skin, more patience. These are base-heavy compositions built to bloom over hours, so two sprays on the chest under clothing will outlast eight on a shirt collar. Layering is native to the tradition too; Luban under Oud Royal, or Man Musk under almost anything, is how the Gulf has always built a signature. And if a four-figure attar earns its price on your skin, buy it with our respect; if not, this entire page exists so the tradition stays wearable every day, through the men's and women's collections.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes a perfume Arabic?

The materials and the intent. Arabic perfumery centres on oud, frankincense (luban), musk, saffron, rose and amber, worn warm and close, often layered, and built to last from morning prayers to late dinners. The format can be an oil (attar), a spray or bakhoor smoke; what stays constant is depth over freshness.

What is an attar?

A pure perfume oil, alcohol-free, applied directly to skin: the oldest format in Arabic perfumery. Amouage's Oud Ulya, for example, is a 12ml attar at AED 2,280 in the UAE. Oils wear closer and last longer per drop; sprays like ours trade some of that intimacy for ease and price.

What is the best Arabic perfume?

For tradition in one bottle, Khanjar or Oud Royal; for the softest entry, Saffron Oud at AED 26; for frankincense heritage, Luban; for the luxe end, the Oud Ulya style. Ask three Gulf households and you will get three different answers, which is exactly how a living tradition should behave.

Are MOJ's Arabic perfumes originals or copies?

Both, and we label which is which. Khanjar, Saffron Oud, Luban, Oud Royal and Man Musk are our own original creations, composed on Arabic pillars by a house born in Oman. The rest are honest interpretations of icons we admire, marked inspired, priced for daily wear.
